Hey Guys,
I am still new to the game and wanted to know when you guys detect if you have specific strategies like where to dig (geographically...near trees...types of soil etc..), and if you have a discriminating feature if you use it...
Thanks,

When you go to a park or beach...make a note or take a photo of people that sit and play. Do they roll down a hill with the kids?
At the beach find the "blanket" line(s).
Picnic area-Lots of trash targets around tables-clean them out and find good targets.
Food stands...look.
Old ball parks...check under the stands and along the foul lines.
Park or bus bench...check under and behind.
Good Luck
Jerry
When I'm scoping out a spot, the trees are often a good indicator of the age of the place. I love to see a place with big old trees in some sort of organized pattern, because I then know they were planted that way............I've made many a good find at the base of a tree. When in a park or public area, I'm always drawn to the low spots, or places with little or no grass...........If you are hunting in an area with thick grass, you are losing depth to the grass............if the grass is three inches thick, that's three inches less you are penetrating into the ground........look for areas where the runoff tends to go, they will often collect goodies and be less likely to have thick grass...........you can't really judge a place by how it looks today, where the people tend to congregate etc, you have to try to visualize what it would have been like 100 years ago........................One of my favorite places to hunt is parking strips in the old part of town. (Between the street and the sidewalk). People have been getting out of cars, and Buggys, for many years and losing things as they reach into pockets for car keys or house keys etc............I have made many valuable finds in parking stips................also the less discrimination you can use the better, as you give up depth with discrimination..........Good luck!
