Title: Scanner Or Digital Camera?
Description: Posting pics......

What is the best way to photograph coins (for posting) for best lighting and highest resolution possible? Should one use a scanner or copy stand with digital camera? I'd like to use a scanner if that's possible..........

Calnevaroy-
I think a digital camera is the best way to go. I used a scanner for awhile, but I couldn't get a good close up of the coin...whereas a digital camera with a macro setting can get a very good close up of a coin, ring or anything else that's fairly small. The camera will give you much better detail with the closer shot also. Just my 2 pennies worth.

Yeah..I agree.
Not only that..but with scanner, it's hard to get a good pic. unless the object is flat.

Besides. It's kind of hard to bring a scanner with you outdoors to take pictures.

Dig camera with Macro mode if you cant wait till day light to take your pic use a small halogin bulb @ 30o angle.

Thanks guys. It'll just be for coins and I was hoping a scanner would give well lit, high quality pictures. I'll give the digital camera a try first..........
