I'm new to the site and would like to know if there any clubs in the San Mateo area. Do they meet regularly?

Welcome to the forum..hvalkman. I take it you live in San Mateo.
There is the "Peninsula Treasure Hunters". I believe they have monthly meetings up in Millbrae or San Bruno.
There is a very well known metal detector dealer who lives in Foster City. (Greg: Trans Bay Metal Detectors) Maybe you bought your detector from him.
Anyway. He is on the club's board. I think treasurer.

He'll be happy to fill you in on details regarding meetings. Also..having a good local detector dealer can be invaluable.
