I am very eager to get underway and start finding treasures. Not even sure where to start, or what to even hunt for. I have a Fisher F2 and have gone over my front yard a bit as a way of breaking it in. Well really I am trying to hoan my skills. I really feel like I need a detecting sensei. I came to this forum hoping that you all might be able to inlighten me. All I have found in my yard is a bunch of trash and a bunch of clad coinage. Please help me in any way you can.

Welcome, You might try a "Tot Lot" = Play Ground. Look for one with sand or wood chips. Makes for easy finds while you learn the F2.

Finds won't be too deep.

Good Luck
Jerry

Get involved in the Sacramento club. See who's bringing in old coins, and try to learn what their techniques, etc.... are. There's no substitute for actual in-field comparison of signals, retreiving techniques, etc... Nothing written in text/print can compare to field practice.

(I am not a sensei)

But hey if you live in the Bay Area you should just try to meet up with other MDers.

I'm detecting all this weekend.

Good luck!

All previous post were good and here is mine.............

DIG EVERYTHING UP...and *AFTER* you gain more expericence you can be a little more selective at to what you dig up.....

Howeverk, for a LONG TIME dig it all up...and haul the junk away & COVER your holes..

I have found this hobby to be addictive....watch out or you will join a support group...
