Title: Has Anyone Heard Of A Garrett Treasure Ace 300

dslover - September 7, 2005 02:46 PM (GMT)
I have just gotten one and have no idea how it works, sort of. I used it yesterday and found a bunch of pennies, so I'm guessing that it works. Or maybe I'm just not looking at the right areas. Can someone help me out a little with general info, I've been searching the internet but that can get kind of hectic sometimes, ecspecially at work. Thanks, Sean (dslover).

Hey Sean.

Leave Greg (au4greg) a private message and let him know what you are looking for.
He's been a dealer for years and has carried Garrett detectors as long.
I'll bet he's got a manual he can sell you cheap.

If he doesn't..he can probably find you one..or at least point you in the right direction.

If he doesn't get back to you..let me know. I'll give you his business number.

Bill

Update:

Well i took it out for the first time. I read a good review in losttreasure.com so i decide to go make my fortune hehehehe. Anyway I think I've learned that my first metal detector is only good for finding pennies and pull tabs. I live in Marina so I tried it out at a park close to where i live to try and just get feel for it, I was out there for about two hours and i pulled about 14 pennies, 1 nickel and about hundred pull tabs and bottle caps (anyone like old english hahaha). So for my first time out it was depressing and frustrating.

if it were easy everyone would be doing it!

Hang in there! Keep at it.

Hi dslover,
I am as new at it as you. I bought a used Garrett GTAX 400 from ebay. I have maybe 5
or 6 hours use. I used it at an old abondoned house. Found the sewer line, water lines, pennies and several quarters. I was happy with those finds. Each time I use it I feel a little more comfortable with it. Look around the area where you are going to use it and sorta get a feel for where things are located. I found the change by where the cars were parked.
I went to a lake and found pennies, dimes and quarters where a sand beach and play area was located. Oh yeah I found maybe a half dozen aluminum pull tabs too.

Have fun and get some experience before you get disgusted.

I hate to say it but someone has to, the Ace series has had some really bad reps, myself included, I've had a Predator 2 (similar to the Treasure Ace in every aspect except the lights it has and the target ID found in the 300 series) and it was horrible, only found pennies and pulltabs, and finally it stopped detecting, $250 down the drain, I still have it in the closet collecting dust reminding me never to buy detectors made specifically from Kellyco or other, then I upgraded to a Whites CL IDX (used form eBay), payed almost the same price and it's 1000 times better, I've found silver, lots of clad, etc. It payed itself in a year, and a month ago I upgraded to an Explorer II w/X-1 Probe... point is, Garrett has good detectors from the 400x series and up fro what I know of, read it on www.metaldetectorreviews.net BUT don't get discouraged, you'll have lots of fun with it and you'll learn the basics of detecting (hey at least the 300 has target ID), then you'll feel like upgrading, and sell the 300 when you can.

I have my CL IDX for sale if you're interested, since I've upgraded to an Explorer-2 I have no use for the IDX. PM me if interested, it's nearly new and I'll include lots of accessories.

The owner's manual for the Treasure Ace 300 can be found here:
http://www.garrett.com/manuals/Treasure-Ace-300.pdf

I suggest learning about how to set the detector's Discrimination control and what it does.

I don't know much about the treasure ace 300. But all the Pull tabs that you find are worth money to some charity groups. I save mine in a #10 coffee can for for the Oxnard Seniors Center's drive, they have once a year. It makes money for them and takes the tabs off the hunting grounds.
Pull tabs are money to someone.

Thank you all for helping out I really apprieciate it. I would like to know more about the pulltabs and where to send them if anyone has anymore info on this that would be wonerful. Well I have had it now for over a week and have gotten just about 5 dollars in clad. So I guess that i just have to keep it up.

Thank you All. Sean.

Keep at it! In no time at all you'll have saved enough $$$ in clad to buy a new detector.

you'll have great fun with it and by the sounds of thing you've got off to a good start!
good luck in locating the owners manual

dslover,
I normally give my pull tabs to the Senior's Center here in Oxnard. But, at times someone at work or one of the schools here has a drive for them. To raise money for schools or charities like R.McDonald House. Asked the Kids or Seniors in your area, If they about anything - they will remember you, when the charities start asking for the tabs.

Not very popular because to many of us, the Treasure Ace was a step down in design from the Freedom Series.

Depth was lacking and the Treasure Eye was ridiculous.

Those that are still interested in the purchase of the Treasure Ace can buy them under the Private Label of Predator sold presently from Kellyco who also sells the 'Long Range Locators'... go figure.
