Title: Hi All, New To The Forums And Detecting

weatherfiend - May 27, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
Not necessarily needing help, but perhaps some pointers. Hubby and I have done a lot of research, at least on the net, but was wondering if anyone had been around the Monterey area and know of some good places to hunt.

There's a bike/walking path all along the ocean here that used to be a railroad. I thought maybe if we could find out where the depot was, that might be a good place to hunt.

What about beaches? I know the one in Monterey is a state beach, so off-limits, but I think Carmel's is city-owned. Do we need to call someone to make sure? Or just plead innocent? :D

I suppose I should have shared which detector I own :D lol...

We bought the Quattro MP from Kellyco (btw, we were very impressed with them... very nice, helpful people. I hope everyone has as good an experience with them as we did, it was really refreshing).

Also picked up the Pinpointer, plus all the little tools, gadgets, and bags that come free with the detector.

Hi Chica welcome to the forum. All state beaches in CA including Monterey are OK for detecting. Just stay away from the sea lions. It is the Federal beaches, National parks, and National monuments that are off limits.

There are a bunch of detectorists from Monterey/Santa Cruz on this forum and they should be chipping in soon. HH Dan3

Hola Chica!

Welcome to the forum. As Goldie said, Monterey beach is ok to hunt. I've tried it a few times, but never got much out of it, other than clad. Now is not the best time of the year for beach hunting in N. Cali.

;) Glad to have another lady hunter on board.

With all the tourists around there you would think
it would be loaded, but it's rather tough hunting at the
beach. good luck and let us know what you find. AG
