Title: New Dfx Coming Next Week.
Description: Any helpful hints?

Hello everyone, I have enjoyed reading the posts on this forum and now I will have a chance to really participate. My new DFX is coming next week and I cant wait. I have used a cheapo Bounty Hunter for the last couple of years and thought it was finally time to move up. I originally wanted one for detecting gold nuggets but I decided to compromise because I will probably have more time to hit local parks than the desert. Apparently you can also find nuggets with the DFX if they are large enough.
If anyone has any helpful hints or stories about this machine I would really like to hear them.

Bury a test garden with some coins, nails, etc. in your yard and swing over them and LISTEN to the sounds.
Start with the factory programs until you get comfortable with the detector.
Read your owner's manual at least three times and get the book "Digging deeper with the DFX".
Good luck and HH B)

Get "Digging Deeper With the DFX" by Jeff Foster. Jimmy Sierras book: Understanding the DFX is also a useful book.
Adjust the presets to get the maximum depth possible

Thanks guys.
Question.....I may occasionally try my hand at nugget detecting. The manual states that it may be able to detect as small as a "6 grain" nuggett. I know that there are 480 grains in an ounce......but that does not help me visualize this very well. I know how big bird shot is....is that close?

If it is nugget hunting your primariliy interested in MD'ing then get a MXT or a metal detector specifically made for finding gold. The DFX will work but dont expect phenomenal results.

For your DFX try getting the DX-1 Probe from Sunray, I have the X-1 for my Explorer II and it's great! It will be the best accessory for the DFX which is a superb machine, trust me, you'll love the DX-1, it will save you a lot of digging time and will minimize the probability of scratching or damaging a valuable find.

Hopefully you've purchased it from your favorite dealer who will show you how and share the tuning tips and tricks.
If not, the road to understanding and mastering is a long one.
