Title: What Tools?
mrranger - May 29, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
What kinds of digging tools do folks use?
I have a standard plant digging tool that has a forked end and is about 12 inches overall.
What do you use for grassy areas?
For beaches?
Thanks

Hi mrranger...I use the Gator digging tool for the grassy areas and a Vibaprobe, both make the job of digging really alot easier.
As for the beach, I still use my Gator digging and a small sand scoop I purchased off of E-Bay.
Hope this helps...Good Luck...and HH Mike.

My primary digging tool is a wilcox. It's long and 3 inches wide.
I also have a lesche that I have been using lately for shallow stuff. I like it better than the gator digger I broke.
I haven't done much beach hunting but I do have a small scoop for dry sand.

the lesche is the best digging tool out there in my opinion. it cuts through roots like nothing.

Ranger I use the lesche for about everything except the beach. It is one of the toughest digging tool's out there and worth every penny spent on it.I have had mine for 2 yr's not a problem with it.
I have used other tool's before and broke or bent every one until know :D Also Predator tool's are good to,made by the same person"George Lesche"HH,Tom

KABAR HUNTING KNIFE (in my backyard =/)
otherwise i use a wilcox like the one msimon has, for getting the plug, and for inside the hole i use a plastic trowel so i don't damage the coin too much. also automaxx probe.

I'm for the lesche too. I just sharpened mine as it'd gotten pretty dull doing double duty for scraping sand from rock crevices and loosening streambed rocks for that pesky gold bug. Cutting through turf and dirt didn't seem to dull it much, but wet sand is another matter.

tristan i think the jimmy sierra dig-it, its ok, but i broke mine the first time i used it at GGP. popped in half, i actually laughed when it happened.
