Hi fellow detectors. Got my 1st MD (bounty hunter) last week. Hit a couple of beaches in sunny San Diego with success everytime. My friends got a :rotfl: laugh when I told them my biggest hit so far was a dime. What would the best advice be for a beginner to stick with MD and not loose steam? I will eventually upgrade and White's Prizm IV looks like a decent MD??? Please let me know. Thank you.

Jacque, Welcome to the Forum. You have the right idea. You stick with it and not lose your Steam! Your friends will soon be seeing gold and diamonds in your pouch. Persistance does pay off. In fact its right up there with LUCK. GaryC/SanBdno.

Welcome
Also look for a local club. Nothing like getting help from someone in the know and local.
I would rank persistance up there at the top. Can't find it if it isn't under your coil. Learn how good targets hit on you machine, coins and rings to start with. Hit a couple of tot lots and get the feel for the lots. They can produce some nice finds.
Got headphones? If not get them.
My 2 zincs

Welcome J- work hard at this hobby and it will work hard for you. The good stuff is out there; I have many more "bad" days than "good" ones but any day hunting is a GREAT day. You get exercise, fresh air and if you happen to hit it right, gold and other stuff. Hang in there! The forum knows how I feel about this hobby- it's the best one I have ever had (not that I have had so many) HH, Joe

Hey J -------Your on the right track! Keep your head low and your coil slow the goody's will come. Keep this in mind though. In my small time tecting (bout 13mnths) Mind you I have more time than most --- I have found PLENTY of great findy's-----But IMHO the best thing's I have taken away from this hobby is new friends. There are some great ppl on this forum take the time to meet and learn from all the time in the feild they have spent. You Will go far and come away with some good find's good time's and good friend's to boot ---------HH Ride Um
