Title: Where To Hunt
DiverMan - March 25, 2006 03:52 PM (GMT)
Hi All,
I just ordered my Ace 250 and it should be here in a couple of weeks (It's on back order, dang it). I am located in central California (Stockton/Modesto area) and am using this time to research areas where I can hunt. Any suggestions for a first timer? I am planning on taking my son with me so I am hoping to find someplace that might (I know it's just a matter of luck) provide something to get him excided as well.
Thanks in advance.

Hey DMan, you'll like the 250, just don't try to run the sens above 3, it gets
good depth there, up to about 5 inches on coins where 999 % are laying.
Later on you might want to try running alittle hotter but it will be noiser &
less stable in this Cal. soil.
Parks are a good place to get some goodies & some practise.
Your own home or a friend or relitive is a good place also because it
teaches one quikly how to repair the holes. hahahahaha
Good luck, we all need that.................................................j

Thanks alot!!!
I have a park literally, right across the street from my house where a lot of people use for sports practice (parents sitting on the side lines watching their kids). It is only a 300 ft (maybe that) walk to the park. I figure there's got to be a at least a couple of bucks in change there ^_^ .
Also, I will be taking my cub scouts to camp this summer as well. There has got to be something at the scout camp.
Thanks for the advice on the sensitivity on the 250. I researched a lot of boards and talked to several people about the Ace and they all said that it was a very good "beginner" model without breaking my wallet. I am sure in a couple of years, I will upgrade. As my name suggests, I may even get an under water one...

You didn't mention where the camp is but
be aware that National Parks are off limits
for MDing and many state parks are as well
(except state beaches which are mostly ok.)

Yeah the hard part about being patient is getting the new unit ;) . I have already found some targets that I would like to sweep when I get it. My son is just as excited as I am. Is there any Modesto area clubs that I may inquire about?

Hi all-
I am new to the forum however I have had my XLT for some time now... I bought it a few years ago when they first came out thinking I was going to have all kinds of fun finding buried treasure all over the place!
So after a few trips to some local parks, either getting sunburned or eatin by the mosquitos after dark I decided to shove the XLT under the bed and there it sits. I am going to be going out today in the Martinez area (tip from old timer) and see what I can dig up!
If you want a detecting buddy and live in the Concord area PLEASE email me. I would like to have someone to go with as well as learn how to use my XLT a little better...
Feel free to email me at jpisnot@gmail.com
Happy hunting all!

Hey JP1. Welcome to the forum.
Get a hold of Bluefoot. She lives in Martinez and really knows the XLT. She's a good hunter.
Happy Hunting,
MT
