Title: Dfx Question

Pondmn - February 4, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
Breaking in a new DFX I got for Christmas and need some help. My old fisher 1236 is semi-retired. Using the preprogrammed coin mode and hunting trashy parks. Getting a lot of hits over 90+ that I assume I pass up. Also getting a lot of hits that start in the 80+ range and the go to 90+. Using the bar graph to elilminate some but the number of hits is somewhat intimidating. I am getting a few coins from quarters to pennies each trip but not as much as the well tweeked fisher. any thoughts or help. Jerry

you should read Jimmy's Sierra's book, Understanding the DFX. If you like, I have a copy I'll send it to you free.

The only one you should pass up in the positive range is +95. The other high numbers could be silver quarters, halves and silver dollars...

You should go back and read the owners manuel again because it will tell you why you should dig those--I dig everything that reads over 70--Those in the 80-90 are the numbers you should NEVER pass up because they should be the GOOD targets--I wish I could get those kind of numbers on my DFX-MXT all the time because I would be digging a lot of--Dimes--Quarters--Fifty Cent Pieces--Some times they are are trash but not often IF they LOCK on

Hi Jerry,

You may want to ask the question on the dfxonly.com forum dedicated to the dfx. If you cant find the answers here.

Thanks for the help. I reread Jummy Sierra' book regarding positive numbers and misread it. Your right I should be digging the numbers in the 90's below 95. Thomas thanks for the offer of the book. It is free off the internet. I have also had to learn to dig the deeper targets. Jerry

If your going to Ignore your 95 # your going to cost yourself dearly many good targets. I would not advise it.

Of course, the DFX has over 55 Basic and Pro Options which can mean hundreds of different combinations.

The Jimmy Sierra Book will help toward that understanding.
Another excellent book is the Jeff Foster 'Digging Deeper With the DFX' which is the most comprehensive manual going.

Even with a detector as simply as the Tesoro Compadre, there can be a dozens of strategies and finer points with this detector not to mention the more complex DFX.
